Sir Luke White, 3rd Baron Annaly of Annaly and Rathcline gained the rank of officer in 1877 in the service of the Scots Guards. He fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882, where he won a medal, clasp and bronze star. He gained the rank of Captain in 1888 in the service of the Scots Guards. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Annaly of Annaly and Rathcline, co. Longford [U.K., 1863] on 16 March 1888. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.). He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northamptonshire. He gained the rank of honorary Colonel in the service of the Northamptonshire Yeomnary. He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.). He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Longford. He held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to HRH The Prince of Wales between 1908 and 1910.3 He held the office of Permanent Lord-in-Waiting to HM King George V between 1910 and 1921. He was invested as a Grand Officer, Legion of Honour French. He was a Liberal Unionist in his politics.


Luke married Hon. Lilah Georgiana Augusta Constance Agar-Ellis, daughter of Henry Agar-Ellis 3rd Viscount Clifden and Eliza Horatia Frederica Seymour. (Hon. Lilah Georgiana Augusta Constance Agar-Ellis was born on 6 Aug 1862 and died on 27 Jan 1944.)
