Mary Anne
- Born: 1837, Oldham, Lancs
- Marriage: William Grant
Notes:
Presumably her surname is Cliffe.
1861 Census (age 24) living New Road Side, Kirkheaton, Dalton, Yorks with husband and children and 2 servants.
1871 Census (age 35) is widow living at Bay Hall, Huddersfield. Head of house is William P England (62 Drysaltery Merchant) but lots of people in house including 3 CLIFFEs - all showing as unmarried daughters (if unmarried why called Cliffe and not England?). Mary Anne herself is showing as daughter-in-law, and her 2 daughters are showing as grand-daughters to the head. V confusing entry - there are 14 people in the house!
Q2 1876 Huddersfield marriage registered of Mary Anne Grant. Vol 9a Pg.438
1881 Census; can't find. Perhaps remarried?
1891 Census; ditto.
Mary married William Grant, son of Thomas# Grant and Mary# Smith. (William Grant was born in 1829, christened on 25 Jan 1829 in Pocklington, East Riding and died Q4 1864 in Huddersfield.)
