Edmond Sexton PERY 1st Viscount Pery

General Notes:
From will info of John Martin. Called to the bar in 1745 and became M.P. for Limerick in 1761. Was speaker Irish House of Commons 1771-1785 and was created Viscount Pery in 1785. Has been described as the directing mind of the Liberal Party in Ireland. His 'Martin' wife died without issue (before 1763) and he later remarried. Newtown Pery is named after him. There is a Pery Chapel at St.Mary's Cathedral. Nephew later became Earl of Limerick.
Have also seen as Perry and as Sexten ! According to The Rich Inheritance of a Limerick Mayor 'The Second e had changed to an o by this time'.
Edmond married Martha 'Patty?' MARTIN, daughter of Col. John# MARTIN and Martha# BURWELL, on 13 Jun 1756 in St.Michan, Dublin. (Martha 'Patty?' MARTIN died on 11 Jun 1756.)
